about

Aftermaths is a compilation raising money for ISER Caribe, an organization helping rebuild a more sustainable Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria. This album represents artists across a variety of genres, identities, and lives in Chicago, and is a follow up to a Hurricane Maria benefit booked here in Chicago at Elastic Arts last October. While the concert was a huge success at the time, it hardly seemed like enough given the rolling aftermath of the hurricane. Our federal government has failed to respond swiftly or adequately to the crisis, instead demonstrating that it considers Puerto Rico a colony and a debt burden. Aftermaths represents an effort to rally community around a situation where an existing power structure has failed.
